Need I say more?

An interesting comment

Today I was out at Shop Rite and had an interesting experience, which seems to be the norm. I was wearing an ankle length dark gray denim mermaid skirt, my platform heeled boots, and a purple sweat jacket (women's of course), and carrying my purse as usual but it was not a Heather day. No makeup, breast forms, earrings, or wig. I was crouched down getting some items off of the bottom shelf when a woman in her mid 30's I'd guess, approached me, leaned over and put her hand on my shoulder and said "Good for you."

Meeting an old friend

Last night we went out to meet an old HS friend who I haven't seen in something like 15 years. He knew about Heather, but has never met Heather until last night. He was having a gathering at a bar and had invited his old college friends and those from HS still in the area. We were the first ones to arrive and about 10 minutes later another old HS friend walked in with his girlfriend. He saw me and said "hey, good to see you". This particular friend knew nothing of Heather at all. In fact, until yesterday morning when I found him on FB (under my Joe profile) we had not had any contact for 15 or so years. It didn't phase him at all. He asked a few questions like was I in transition, etc. But other than that, it wasn't even a thought to him. He had issues with the Heather vs Joe names throughout the evening but he was making an effort. 

A little bit later the friend we had come to see arrived and he walked over to the other friend and gave him a hug. He glanced at me, turned away then the light bulb went on and he turned back, smiled and gave me a big hug. He said "Heather, right?" He kept introducing me as his friend from HS, Heather all night. We had a good time and I was definitely well accepted by my old friends as Heather, not that I expected any different.

Meeting old friends

Tonight i'm meeting some old HS friends who I haven't seen in 15+ years. They'll get to meet Heather tonight. It should be a blast.

Google+ is so much nicer...

I just realized I haven't been on facebook in like 2 weeks and haven't missed it. Sure, I miss some of the status updates, but I also love the lack of crap on G+. :)
