Let me explain why:
There is only 1 item of clothing designed specifically for women - the
bra. Every other item has historically been worn by men. Follow my
reasoning here....
High heeled shoes: These originated in the mid-14th century. The cavalry
had a problem. At the time stirrups were loops of leather or rope.
During battle, cavalrymen would sometimes have their foot slip forward
through th stirrup when they got knocked off of their horse. As a result
they were either trampled by their horse or an easy target for their
enemies. A cobbler had the bright idea of adding a few layers of leather
to the heel of the boots to prevent this. Over time, peaking around the
Renaissance, men's heels went as high as 4". Many aristocratic men wore
high heels, known as court shoes for formal occasions. High heels were
invented to be worn by MEN!
Stockings: The founding fathers of the US wore stockings daily (we're
talking 1700's). They were closer to heavy knit tights as we know them.
They were typically over the knee, sometimes thigh high and tied with a
ribbon or string (known as a Garter). So pantyhose and tights of today
are nothing more than a refinement of what were fashionable for men for
many years.
Panties: What is the difference between men's underwear and panties,
really? Men's are poor-fitting, coarse materials, and plain ugly. Women'
are form fitting, smooth & silky materials, extremely comfortable, and
they do a heck of a better job of supporting the male parts than mens
underwear do any day, not to mention they look better. Underwear is a
recent invention anyway. Historically neither sex wore them.
Garter Belts: Think back to the 1920's. Men wore dress socks with their
suits held up by a garter belt that hugged the calves. You've all see
the pictures. How is a women's garter belt that different?
Skirts: In Roman times, a skirt was part of the military uniform, and I
dare you to tell a Scot that he's wearing a skirt! ;)
Dresses: Men to this day still wear a dress. Look at the Catholic
church. Every mass is run by a man in a dress! I don't care what you
call it, it's still a dress. Baby boys are christened in a christening
gown (a dress).
Wigs: To this day the British legal system requires its judges to wear
wigs. Last year during the heat wave, they had to get parliament's (or
was it the Queen's?) permission to not wear their wigs.
Makeup: During the Renaissance, men wore rouge on their lips & cheeks
and used white powder on their faces to improve their complexion. Every
male movie & TV actor, TV newscaster wears makeup daily as part of their
jobs. In ancient Egypt the Pharaohs wore eyeliner.
Perfume: Cologne is a recent idea. Historically men wore the same
perfumes as women.
Nail Polish: It was fashionable in ancient Egypt to paint men's nails
black. This has been seen in other cultures as well.
So, with the exception of breasts & bra, crossdressers are wearing men's
clothing! So ask your wives why they don't like you wearing men's
clothing.. :)
