(mini) skirts in winter

OK, I'm impressed. I have to admit that every time I saw some girl
waiting for the school bus in the middle of winter wearing a mini skirt
I had to think "man, that has to be cold!" Well, today I wore a corduroy
(wow, i wore corduroy.. I hate corduroy) skirt, tights, over the ankle
boots and was not cold! Oh, and it was 25F this morning when I took my
daughter to the bus stop. I am utterly amazed, Granted, if there had
been a wind today I think I would have been colder but I was actually
not cold. My hands were cold but my legs were not. So I have yet another
reason to wear women's fashions. I don't think a pair of jeans would
have been any warmer than this skirt & tights was.

Skirts in winter

I have to say, I have discovered the warmth of a skirt in winter. The
other day I was wearing a heavy black dress that is ankle length. This
dress is kind of like a heavy T-shirt material. I had on socks and ankle
boots under it and it was 25 out, so I was essentially bare-legged under
the skirt. I fully expected my legs to be cool at that temp in the dress
but surprisingly, my legs were warmer than when I had been wearing jeans
earlier in the day to drop my daughter off at school. So now I know that
skirts can be cooler in summer AND warmer in winter. What an interesting
paradox. I think it has something to do with the air pocket that forms
under the longer skirt retaining more heat. Jeans, etc. don't really
retain much heat since there is no air pocket there. Now I have yet
another reason to hate men's fashion! Guys have absolutely no idea what
they are missing....

Making some ID cards

I had the pleasure of getting together with 2 girls from PA today who
wanted ID cards made. I do have to say, the cards came out great. I find
it amazing how differently we can look between our male modes and our
female modes. I would not have recognized either of them if I had met
them in male mode.

Coming out to the boss

Yesterday I had a meeting with the president of one of the companies
that I do work for about becoming a full time employee. Now, the girls
in the office all know about Heather, but he does not. At the end of our
meeting I told him that I had something that I had been wanting to talk
to him about. We agreed that I was definitely a very unique individual.
I told him that I liked being able to work from home some of the time,
and I wanted to show him something that might explain some of my
"uniqueness". I showed him a photo of Heather. His response was "is that
you?". I told him that it was. He told me that so long as I was
"professional" with the clients he had no issues with me being "unique".
He even went so far as to say "I will vehemently defend your right to be
unique".

The front of the bus is mighty comfy!

Well, tonight I came home from work and we had a quick dinner. I went &
got changed - boot cut jeans, my pink "Vegas girl" shirt, white stiletto
boots and headed off to the polls. When I got there they couldn't find
me on the register, it seems they reorganized the districts and never
bothered to tell anyone. A little searching later and we found my name
on the books. The guy was flipping through the book and I saw my name
and pointed to it and said "That's me". He asked me to sign the book and
asked me if I had ever been to Vegas (now, keep in mind this is a
retired guy). I told him I had bought the shirt in Vegas and he made
small talk while he filled out the slip. He wished me happy voting as I
walked over to the machines to wait my turn.

Now, I know he saw my name when I signed, but he did not make an issue
of it at all. He didn't even ask for my ID which I was ready to hand
over along with my TG ID card. I handed my card to the guy working the
booth and went and placed my vote. On my way out another younger guy
wished me a good night and I went on my way. If anyone read me they did
not let on at all and the guy who saw my name didn't even flinch at it.
I was just another voter as far as they were concerned.. now get out
there and vote!

Voting enfemme

Well, today is primaries day in NJ. I do plan to vote, and just because
I can I'm going as Heather. I know I'll need to show my male IDs, etc.
when I go. As I explained it to my wife.. someone needs to sit in the
front of the bus.. Wish me luck!

Oh, what a picture it would have made....

I wish I had a pic.. Me in mary janes, slim jeans, longsleeve top, as
Heather in the backyard working a skilsaw cutting wood.. LOL
--

And some people wonder why I love being Heather....

Today was another Heather day (hey, I wasn't going to let this nail
polish go to waste.. LOL). I was my normal self, jeans, mary janes,
lomgsleeve top. I took our daughter to Home Depot to get wood to build
her a desk for her room and get some paint for it. While looking at the
wood, the inevitable male employee came over and offered his assistance
"Do you ladies need some help?" :) I told him I had found what I needed
and thanked him. On the way out to the Jeep, I dropped a piece of wood
and another male employee asked if I needed assistance. I thanked him
and told him I had it under control. The Jeep was parked right up front
so I didn't have far to go. I stopped the cart (you know, the big lumber
cart) by the back of the Jeep and popped the back hatch. While I was
looking for the prop rod (the lift shocks are shot) I heard him walking
over and offering his assistance. Before I could even say anything he
was loading my lumber into the Jeep for me.

Now, I seriously doubt that Joe would have gotten the same enthusiastic
offers of help. Why is that? Why is it that society has such a bias
toward the "helpless" female?

And people wonder why I prefer to be Heather some days....
