do my nails for the holiday since we are going away for a few days and I
will be Heather the whole time. I decided to wear my jeans with the
laces down the side, a top that looks like a short sleeve over a long
sleeve with a big heart on front and my maryjanes.
I went to the nail salon and it was pretty busy so I had to wait a bit.
After my nails were filled, I had them polish and do some nail art for a
change since I actually get to enjoy it for 4 days. While I was sitting
there letting the polish dry I was chatting with a pair of teenage girls
who I don't think knew I was a guy. After they were done another older
woman (OK, my age) was sitting across from me. She commented on how she
hated waiting for the polish to dry and that started the conversation.
She commented on how she loved my hair color and wanted to know what
color it was (I had on my auburn wavy wig). When I told her this wasn't
my natural hair color she said she was amazed, it looked so natural. I
never told her it was a wig (a synthetic wig at that) and she thought it
was my natural hair. I ended up chatting with her and another woman for
the next 20 minutes or so. I can honestly say that I passed 100%. They
didn't suspect a thing.
Next I went to the salon where my wife was getting her hair done. I
should also mention that Joe also uses this same salon (same girl even).
I went to pick up my daughter before she got out of hand. When I walked
over to where my wife was the girl looked right at me and said hi, and
had one of those "i know you from somewhere" looks on her face. I was
there for a few minutes then left. on the way out my daughter called me
"dada". That's when it hit home and she got one of those looks that
said a lightbulb turned on..... She told the girl at the front counter
and she said out loud "oh my god". They had finally figured out who I
was. The girl that wahes the hair still didn't get it and commented on
the fact that Joe hadn't been in for a haircut in a while. The girl
doing my wife's hair said "did you see her friend?". The girl finally
realized what all the fuss was about. She said I looked totally
passable. The girls at the salon said I looked great. It should be
interesting the next time Joe goes for a haircut. I need to remember
some of Heather's cards... :)
